Embedded Community Center
ECC stands for ‘Embedded Community Center’. The project was initiated by UNHCR and INTERSOS, where Salam participated by offering three weekly English classes in communal tents, set up inside 4 different settlements. As Lebanese public schools mostly operate off an English curriculum, the English classes offered aimed at preparing the children for eventual enrollment in public schools.
In the beginning of 2017 Salam fully took over the running of one ECC locations, where English and Arabic classes still are offered as well as the space being available for the community to use as they wish. Since the project started, more than 110 children have attended the ECC classes run by our staff and volunteers.
